Wayne General Hospital has provided the type of emergency medical services the community has come to expect. Our ambulances are manned by trained and skilled Emergency Medical Personnel who are available 24/hrs a day. They respond to more than 4,800 emergency calls each year in Wayne County and surrounding areas. The EMS staff is guided by constant communication with the medical control physician that is on duty 24 /hrs a day in the Wayne General Hospital Emergency Room. Paramedics are able to utilize fully advanced life support procedures beginning on the scene, en route, and until the patient is in the care of the hospital professionals. The medical personnel are available to transfer patients between facilities when the need arises. Non-emergency transportation is also available.
The Wayne General Hospital EMS staff is continually involved in training, education, first aid, CPR, and safety. Our EMS staff shares their knowledge and experience with community groups, civic organizations, nursing homes, and industry and school functions. Internships provided give on-the-job training to future EMS technicians, and staff members are available to train local volunteer firemen and rescue departments in basic emergency response techniques in order to improve community safety.
